In tough economic times like these, people who hover below or just above the poverty line are hurting the most. Every dollar means a lot. It’s for people like those that Verizon’s Communication Lifeline service is available in New Jersey.
Communications Lifeline offers eligible consumers a service package that includes discounted residential phone service, including Touch-Tone service, ranging from zero to $1.95 per month; opportunities to add optional features, like Caller ID, Three-Way Calling, and more; and a choice of three different local service options:
New Jersey Shares is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, instrumental in Verizon’s outreach efforts in New Jersey on behalf of Communications Lifeline. NJ Shares also assists consumers who need help in paying energy bills.
"New Jersey Shares is proud to partner with Verizon in helping those less fortunate secure the piece of mind of having telephone service without burdening them financially," said Jim Jacob, executive director of New Jersey Shares. "The telephone is a lifeline in a time of need and Verizon and NJ Shares are committed to ensuring low-cost basic telephone service is available to those who need it most but can afford it least."
New Jersey Shares administers and provides program outreach for their Communications Lifeline and Link Up America programs, offering information and referral through a statewide network of agencies. They also travel around the state giving presentations on Lifeline and other programs they support and they staff a NJ Shares Client Services Call Center in Hamilton that handles Communications Lifeline inquiries.
