Communications Lifeline: Keeping Families Connected

Higher costs for gas and food are hitting everyone, but hardest hit are those on incomes that are near or below the poverty level. If they live in New Jersey, one cost  that they do not have to worry about is their phone service.

Verizon New Jersey’s Communications Lifeline program makes residential phone service more affordable for qualified low-income customers in New Jersey. Verizon has partnered with New Jersey Shares, a 501c3 organization dedicated to helping the disadvantaged with their utility bills, in its outreach efforts.

New Jersey Shares is distributing literature, visiting social agencies, legislative offices and senior centers and fielding calls from potential customers. Verizon New Jersey also has produced print ad and public service announcements in support of the outreach effort.

Communications Lifeline is now in its 11th year and has been instrumental in keeping hundreds of thousands of New Jersey families connected. For more information on Communications Lifeline contact New Jersey Shares at 1-888-337-3339.
